# Introduction

**RTE–MIS** (Right to Education – Management Information System) is a web-based application designed to support state governments in implementing **Section 12(1)(c)** of the **Right to Education Act, 2009**.

This section mandates that **25% of seats in Class 1** in all private schools be reserved for children from **disadvantaged groups and economically weaker sections** in the neighborhood.

Developed as a **Digital Public Good (DPG)**, RTE–MIS is an open-source solution that can be adopted independently by any state government or implemented with support from **Indus Action**.

### **Objective**

To enable seamless implementation of RTE 12(1)(c) across all **36 States and Union Territories**, ensuring that every eligible child benefits from the policy.
