The Block Admin is the third-level administrative user in the RTE–MIS system. They are responsible for executing the RTE admissions campaign within their block, managing all schools, reviewing applications, and ensuring that data and actions are completed on time.
The Block Admin is also the first authority to take action on school registration and reimbursement applications.
1. Block dashboard
The Block Admin Dashboard is the landing page after login. It displays:
- Notifications about campaign events.
- Task status for the block.
- Data on school and student applications.

This dashboard helps the Block Admin stay updated on progress, monitor timelines, and manage activities for all schools within the block.
2. Review school registration
- The Block Admin reviews registration requests from all schools that apply for RTE admissions.
- They can approve or reject school registration applications based on eligibility and documentation.
- The Block Admin is the first reviewer in the registration approval process.
- If the Block Admin is unavailable or unable to act, the District Admin can review and complete the process.
3. Onboarding new schools on the platform
- The Block Admin is directly responsible for onboarding all new schools within their block.
- Schools can be onboarded individually or through a bulk upload (Excel/CSV template).
- After the Block Admin registers a school, the school receives a notification and completes its self-registration process.
4. View registered schools
- Once schools have completed self-registration, they appear in the Block Admin’s view.
- The Block Admin can search, view, and verify school details, including registration status, UDISE code, and location.
5. Mapping schools with location
- The Block Admin can view the location mapping of each school as configured by the State Admin.
- They verify that schools are correctly linked to their block, area type (urban/rural), and ward/panchayat.
- If any mismatches are found, the Block Admin can raise an issue with the State Admin for correction.
6. Reviewing reimbursement claims by schools
- The Block Admin reviews reimbursement claims submitted by schools in their block.
- They can approve or reject claims after checking required documents and details.
- Once approved, claims are forwarded to the District Admin for further verification and approval.
7. Reviewing school fees
- The Block Admin can review the fee structure assigned to schools within their block.
- If any discrepancies or updates are needed, they can make necessary adjustments or forward recommendations to higher authorities.
8. Student tracking
The Block Admin can track student applications throughout the campaign by:
- Searching applications using application number or student name.
- Viewing current application status (verified, pending, admitted, etc.).
- Ensuring that all applications are processed before the lottery phase.
9. Monitoring campaign through reports
The Reports Section gives the Block Admin access to various reports to monitor school and student activities.

9.1 Students admission report
The block admin can monitor the progress of student applications in the block and aggregate status of applications by their status category.
9.2 School information report
The block admin uses this report to monitor the status of seats distribution by school categories.
9.3 School registration report
The school registration report helps the block admin monitor the approval status of schools who have registered on the platform through the approval cycle.
9.4 School mapping report
The school mapping report gives a snapshot of the school to location mapping done for each school within the block.
